How to uninstall a managed extension in Google Chrome?

Under Settings – Extensions ; you get an error that says “This extension is managed and cannot be removed or disabled”

Removing it is pretty straight forward; although not through Google Chrome

  • Note the ID of the Extension that you wish to remove; appears as junk alphabets (eg: lmnoplmnopsatlyu)
  • Close Google Chrome
  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Ensure you have access to all hidden files – Organise – Folder and Search Options – View
  • Navigated to C:\users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Google Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions
  • Delete the Folder that matched the Extension ID
  • Restart Google Chrome
