Backup Exec Alert: Job Completed with Exceptions

If you are planning to install or already installed Symantec Backup Exec for your site data backup, below information will be helpful for you.

If you have already configured the backup software and agents correctly and ran a successful backup for the site; but still you get a notification stating “Backup Exec Alert: Job Completed with Exceptions”. To check the backup data, you may have even tried a data restore and found all the data backup to be intact.

In this case, if you would want to find out and remove the cause for the annoying notification term “exceptions”, try the below steps:

  • When you check details of the notification, you can see specific database logs may be creating the issue with an error number V-79-40960-37914. It can be disabled by, setting the following registry key to (0)
  • Open Registry Editor (regedit)
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\SQL Server\Number Of Non-Log Backups Before Warning

Now your backup exec will give a perfect notification like “Backup Exec Alert: Job Success”
